An Odd Man’s Odyssey: July 2025
Wondering of the Wandering Wonder
Dear Reader, I think I’m going to wander around a bit.
Many people think of an adventure as being driven by progress that is ever moving toward a goal, but true odysseys are not so straightforward. All along the way, we are slowed not only by obstacles but by the attraction of wandering wonder.
Living is more than goals and progress. Life is also an open expanse where we see the night sky open up above us, and we can simply walk beneath it, staring at its grand expanse, amazed.
So, if you are expecting me to write something concerted and insightful this month, tough luck.
On my writing odyssey, you can be confident that I have not abandoned my purpose. I’m still writing the sequel to my first book, and I’m going in that direction, but I’m not going straight there. That hill is not so far that I couldn’t reach it, but there are some lovely places I can visit along the way, that I think I’ll at least check out first.

I don’t really have a point in my Odd Man’s Odyssey post this month, but oh well, I guess I just earn my Captain Random moniker. Just know that I’m working on the sequel to All We Have to Remember, which is under the working title Dread Reckoning, but that, while I haven’t given up on the project, I am not likely to get to its completion quickly.
(Don’t worry, I’m not an author who takes years to write a book, but please be patient all the same.)

I guess my one piece of advice would be for each of you to take time to wander every once in a while. It’s not always predictive, but it’s definitely refreshing. Know your general direction, and go to see what you see along the way.
Ramble over nothing with a friend, stop and smell the roses, laugh at the wind blowing in your face. If that all sounds childish, allow me to remind you, we are called to be children of God, not adults.
Joking aside, live confidently with your direction in mind and firm steps toward where you’ve been called to go, but don’t lose yourself in the press. Find the time to wonder about the wonder of wandering.
Until Next Time,
~C.R. Ware
