An Odd Man’s Odyssey: May 2025
A Wild Month of Winds and Wonders
Dear Readers, what a month.
The odyssey of writing so far has been a mix of slow climbs and steady walks, but last month (April) was a month when your local author faced a few storms.
Sometimes the wind blew and I felt exhilarated, like getting a tailwind that makes you feel like you’re flying. Other moments, I felt like I should cling to the ground and cry for help because I feared I’d be blown away.
Such highs and lows mark most Odyssesies, and I’m grateful to those who have supported and comforted me so far along the way. What I want to share this time is a little bit of advice that’s helped me stay grounded in the high winds (both good and bad).

Throughout this month, what’s given me the most stability is the question.
“What am I doing this for?”
Some of you may remember that I wrote a post a while back discussing ‘why people climb mountains’ and using that to discuss why I do what I do. The short version is I’m on this odyssey for one reason: Because it’s where I’m supposed to be.
The goal is not the end, it’s a well-walked journey along the way. That goal has kept me from flying too high in the great days, and he held me fast when I’m tossed by the winds.
Perhaps that reasoning seems a little flimsy to you, but I believe in the dream the Architect of Dreams has given me. It’s not a dream of everything going perfectly. It’s a dream of walking the right road.

Maybe that makes me a little odd, but well, this is an Odd Man’s Odyssey.
So, my prayer is,
“God help me stick to the right road and not get distracted by the tailwinds or the headwinds of life.”
Dear reader, duck your head and plant your feet. For if you gain nothing else from my words, remember this: It’s when you get distracted from your road that you become lost in defeat.
Until Next Time,
